The Ford Edge presents a variety of engines to choose from to help meet your needs no matter what you prefer. The standard 2.7L EcoBoost engine is lightweight but still manages to push out 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. An available 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 engine delivers 289 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque, but it makes up for it with its ability to optimize performance through the full power spectrum.

The Chevrolet Equinox does not offer as wide a range of engine options, it currently only comes with the standard 1.5L turbocharged four cylinder. It produces 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque.

Cargo Space

With any SUV, cargo space is important, and the Ford Edge offers a roomy 39.2 by 73.4 cubic feet with seat area. It is one of the roomiest vehicles in its class and is ready to help you move cargo or family. The Chevrolet Equinox clocks in with a smaller 31.5 by 63.7 cubic feet with seat area. Not quite as spacious as the Ford Edge.

Safety always goes a long way when purchasing a family oriented SUV. The Ford Edge received a five-star rating from the NHTSA, scoring high marks in all tests. The Chevrolet Equinox clocked in at a four-star rating, losing some points on its Side Crash rating.

What Puts the Ford Edge Ahead of the Buick Enclave?

We want to make sure that our Schererville customers are satisfied with their car no matter the make or model, but we do believe our cars have more to offer than the competition. To prove the advantages of the Ford Edge we've drawn up a comparison with one of its main competitors. Why will Valparaiso drivers enjoy the Ford Edge more than the Buick Enclave?

Affordable Price

Price is always a good place to start when comparing cars and the Ford Edge is the clear winner in this category. Each trim of the Ford Edge has a lower starting MSRP than the base model Buick Enclave, which doesn't have much to offer.

Performance Specs

How your car feels when you drive, and how much you enjoy each drive, boils down to a few key parts and specs. Horsepower and torque are important for acceleration, but you'll feel that power even more in a lighter car. In each of these aspects the Ford Edge comes out on top. It's 2.7-liter EcoBoost® V6 has more horsepower and a lot more torque, 350 pound-feet, than the Buick Enclave, 266 pound-feet of torque. Plus, the Ford Edge is about 300 pounds lighter. Those looking for a little thrill in their drive will enjoy the Ford Edge much more.

Additional Features

As mentioned before, the Buick Enclave is more much more expensive, but that doesn't mean you'll find more features. For instance, Crown Point drivers know the importance of all-wheel drive in the winter, and this feature isn't available on the base model Buick Enclave, but it is available on every Ford Edge.

Other features like a panoramic sunroof, blind spot monitors, and ambient lighting can be found in the Ford Edge, but Gary shoppers won't find them in any Buick Enclave.
